Sort of spoiler, but I feel that since "Lost Highway" Lynch has been exploring the internally perceived self, how the real world sees you and your "true" nature. Fascinating. Anyhoo, even tho his movies are a slog sometimes, I still think he is genius.

*sniff* Paris, Texas. Love everything about that movie and I will watch anything Wim Wenders makes.

My favorite movies right now (this changes with my mood and the weather):

1. The Fall
2. The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnasus
3. Mysterious Skin
4. Sense and Sensibility
5. Here...I'm glad Paris, Texas beat Inland Empire. Here's my favorites.

Paris, Texas: The last scene. I think that's all I need to say.

Wild at Heart: Laura Dern is fantastic. Nicolas Cage is fantastic. They are magical when they dance. It's the only true romantic comedy I've ever seen.

Junebug: Amy Adams is the cutest thing I've ever seen.

Cinema Paradiso: Little Toto is probably the child Amy Adams has in Junebug. This movie just warms my heart. And I don't think I'll ever forget the image of that kid bicycling the movie reel back and forth.

YiYi: Yet another cute kid. I think a theme is emerging.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14733552957174781307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3884910821063162625.post-63518771886508539902011-02-23T16:34:37.477-05:002011-02-23T16:34:37.477-05:00Man, Stutts, the '90's was your decade.

As well as a kubrick film. Kubrick as well. However, eyes wide shut was not my fav. It has been a long time since i have watched it.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17989464637279436617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3884910821063162625.post-6004772019768314082011-02-23T08:29:47.093-05:002011-02-23T08:29:47.093-05:00Here are a few of my favorite movies, in chronolog...Here are a few of my favorite movies, in chronological order:

La Double Vie de Veronique (1991) - directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski, written by Kieslowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz. This movie is so beautiful and strange and never seems to answer any of the questions it asks, just the way I like it.

Orlando (1992) - directed and written by Sally Potter, based on Virginia Woolf's novel. Visually and structurally sublime, this gender-bending delight is also hilarious.

The Piano (1993) - directed and written by Jane Campion. Beautiful to watch, beautiful to hear, this film always startles me and wrenches from my heart a satisfying catharsis. Plus Campion draws on the fairy tales "Bluebeard" and "The Little Mermaid."

The English Patient (1996) - directed and written by Anthony Minghella, based on Michael Ondaatje's novel. I love this epic so much I sat through it three times in the theatre; I don't know what Elaine Benes' problem is.RStuttshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11016168770281208347noreply@blogger.com
